WHAT IS UNITY?

MINISTER’S MESSAGE

Michelle and I attended the West Central Region Unity Ministry Leaders and Teachers training/conference in Santa Cruz this week – IN PERSON! It was the first in-person gathering since the shut down in March of 2020. It was wonderful to be with our fellow ministers and leaders as we all engaged in deep discussions about the future of church ministry in general and Unity ministry in particular.

The (still relatively new) Executive Director of Unity Worldwide Ministries, Rev. Shad Groverland, facilitated a workshop on “The Power of Focused Ministry” that offered valuable insights regarding how we can better spread the life-transforming (and potentially world-transforming) message of Unity through thriving Unity ministries.

Specifically, the process Shad presented invites us to be very clear about WHAT UNITY IS (see the statement above); WHY we’re called (individually and collectively) to our particular Unity ministry (i.e., what’s UMB’s primary Mission/Purpose), WHO our primary demographic is, and HOW we can FOCUS everything we do (worship services, programming, and marketing) to align with our stated purpose. It is a lot to digest – AND very thought – provoking.

Michelle and I are looking forward to sharing the process with our Leadership Council – and then our community – so we can fully capture the power of Focused Ministry together. Thank You God!
